Can I buy AppleCare now and get a free battery replacement?

My iPhone 15 Pro Max is at 76% maximum battery capacity and has 1,109 charge cycles. I bought it in February 2024 and am wondering whether purchasing AppleCare now would qualify me for a free battery replacement, or whether I would still have to pay the standard out-of-warranty price.

Probably not. Standard AppleCare+ usually has to be added within a limited period after buying the iPhone, commonly 60 days. Since the phone was purchased in February 2024, it is likely well outside the enrollment window.

Even if you somehow qualified for a coverage plan now, the batteryโ€™s condition would already exist before coverage began. A battery at 76% with 1,109 cycles would likely be treated as pre-existing wear, so buying coverage now would not make this replacement free.

At this point, the practical option is to pay for an out-of-warranty battery replacement. The exact price depends on your country and service provider, but Appleโ€™s normal price for an iPhone 15 Pro Max battery replacement is often around $99 USD before taxes. You can confirm the current estimate through Apple Support or an authorized service provider.
