I recently put some tape inside my PC to secure a component and then carefully peeled it off after it was no longer needed. I'm a bit worried about whether this could cause any static electricity issues that might damage my computer. The tape was around a fabric tube from my AIO cooler, and the PC was plugged into an active outlet (but powered off) when I did this. I'm new to PCs and don't want to mess anything up. You’ll be fine! The tape was just holding cables together, which isn't an issue. Problems typically arise if tape is used on the motherboard or other sensitive parts. If you're ever in need of duct tape just to close something up, it’s probably okay as long as it’s not interfering with any active components.
You're probably all good! Peeling tape off gently like you did is unlikely to create harmful static. Since it was just around an AIO tube and not on sensitive components like the motherboard, you shouldn't have anything to worry about! Also, having your PSU plugged in while the PC was off helps ground the case, reducing static risks. Just check that the system powers on normally, and you should be in the clear. Also, just a heads up—while tape can create static, quickly unwinding it can lead to some X-ray radiation too. But that’s not something to worry about for your PC!
