Can you still assign Microsoft 365 licenses to invoice sections?

It may be a change or temporary issue in the billing portal. Check whether the invoice section picker is missing for every product and billing profile, or just this purchase. If it’s consistent, ask your billing administrator or Microsoft support to confirm whether the purchase flow has changed for your account.

For a handoff, document the billing structure separately: list each invoice section, what it’s meant to cover, and which teams or license types belong there. That won’t solve the missing picker, but it gives the next person something reliable to work from while you figure out whether the portal behavior is temporary.

That kind of option disappearing without notice is frustrating. I’d avoid buying into the wrong section just to get the order through, especially if reassignment isn’t available afterward. First check the account’s billing permissions and profile, then confirm with support before placing the order.
