Did I damage my CPU by leaving the protective film on the cooler?

So, I accidentally left the plastic film on the bottom of my CPU cooler when I built my PC. I didn't realize it until I noticed my CPU temperatures were around 90°C under load. After a week or two, I removed the cooler, saw the film was still on, and reapplied the thermal paste. Do you think this could have caused any damage to my CPU?

90°C for a short period isn’t going to hurt anything. CPUs have built-in protections and they usually just shut down before any damage happens. Unless you had a crazy fan running like a jet engine, you're probably in the clear!

Nah, you should be fine. CPUs are designed to handle a lot of stress and overheating, and it would take a lot longer for any real damage to occur. Just make sure to remove that film next time, and your CPU will work perfectly!

You didn't damage anything. Modern CPUs have great protection mechanisms to prevent breakdown from overheating. Just keep an eye on things, but you're in good shape!

Agreed! Just monitor the temps moving forward and you're all set.

Thanks! That eases my mind a bit.
