I've been dealing with terrible latency and lag spikes lately, and I'm not sure how to troubleshoot it. I'm located near Cincinnati, and I've noticed that others are reporting issues too, especially with gaming services like Roblox and Overwatch. According to Downdetector, there's been a spike in problems with YouTube, Steam, and Elden Ring in the last hour. This seemed to start around 3 PM Eastern and hasn't improved since. Does anyone have insight on what's going on?

Chances are there's a bad transit link between you and those services. You might want to run something like MTR to see where latency spikes or drops are happening. Sometimes it could be due to failing hardware, maintenance issues, or even political messes.
This kind of issue usually points to problems with major cloud services like Cloudflare, AWS, or Azure. A lot of our online services rely on these clouds, so if anything hiccups, it can create chaos. Just a heads up, I couldn't even load the Downdetector app to check on this!
Right? It's odd that no one seems to be admitting to issues right now. Usually, one of those services drops a report, but this time, it's pretty silent.
For sure! It's crazy how reliant we've become on those services. Regular transit links going down happen all the time without a peep in the news.
Here’s a link to Cloudflare's status page: https://www.cloudflarestatus.com/. Checking it could give you some clarity on what's happening.
Make sure to check the status pages for Cloudflare and the other services mentioned. There might be a massive bot attack that flooded them with data.

Definitely not just you! I'm having issues too, and I've got friends in different areas experiencing the same thing.
