Our HR team still relies on InfoPath forms for payroll, but the forms suddenly started returning HTTP 410 errors and nobody can access the URL we previously used. We have a Microsoft support ticket open, although we haven't received a response. Has InfoPath Forms Services been completely shut down, and what would be a practical replacement for payroll and timesheet forms?

Yes. InfoPath Forms Services in Microsoft 365 has been retired, and InfoPath itself has been at end of life for some time. A 410 response generally means the endpoint was deliberately removed rather than temporarily unavailable, so I wouldn’t expect the forms to come back or Microsoft support to restore them.
The retirement has been documented for a while, so this is probably the final removal from your tenant. HR should start a migration immediately instead of trying to revive the old forms. At minimum, preserve the form definitions and any existing submission data before replacing the workflow.
Power Automate can work well for basic timesheet submission and approval workflows, especially when paired with SharePoint Lists, Dataverse, or another proper data store. Use it for collecting entries, routing approvals, sending reminders, and handing approved data to payroll. I wouldn’t treat Power Automate by itself as the payroll system—make sure you plan for permissions, audit history, validation, corrections, and integration with the actual payroll platform.
That makes sense. I was waiting because InfoPath was still available in our tenant, but it disappeared over the weekend. HR is already suggesting paper forms, so we’re looking at Power Automate or another replacement.
