Help! Am I Really Out of Google Storage?

I've been seeing that annoying message telling me I've used 85% of my Google storage, and honestly, it's hard to believe. I do have quite a few emails that I keep even after deleting a bunch, but I hardly have any old emails like others I've heard about. I stopped Google Photos from backing up my phone, and there's minimal stuff on Google Drive.

So, I'm wondering:
1. How can I efficiently find and delete duplicate photos?
2. What's the best way to weed out any emails I might have missed since my last cleanup?
3. Is there a way to figure out exactly how my storage is being used?
4. Or is this just Google trying to upsell me on storage? (I've also got iCloud storage.)

Please be nice; I'm a bit older, not a tech whiz, and probably your mom's age. I last had proper computer training back in 1986!

You can visit Google One Storage Management at their website; it'll show exactly what's using space and help you clear it. I believe Google Photos does have a feature to recognize duplicates, but you might have to hunt for that setting. If you already use iCloud, consider moving your photos there and clearing them out from Google Photos instead.

I totally wish there was an easy tool for deleting duplicate photos! It'd make life so much easier.

Make sure you’re not syncing your phone's gallery with Google Drive by accident. That was a surprise for me when I found out my photos were all being backed up without me realizing it!

There's a Chrome add-on called Unattach that lets you go through and delete email attachments easily. I got it for free when it was in beta, but it may cost now. It’s pretty useful! You can also just pay Google for extra storage if it becomes too much hassle.

You should check your Google account's Storage settings to see a breakdown of what's taking up space. Sorting your Gmail by size can help you find large emails too. If Google says you are nearing your storage limit, it’s probably right, so it's worth looking into before you hit the cap.
