I recently ran into a problem after my old Dell computer got water damaged, and I decided to buy a budget-friendly 2013 Mac Mini to replace it. Now, I'm trying to connect it to my HP w2207 monitor using an Insignia VGA to HDMI Adapter with audio, but I just can't seem to get it to work. I've plugged in the USB cable to both the Mac Mini and the monitor and made sure the VGA connection is tight, but my monitor still isn't recognizing the connection. It only shows a "check video cable" message and won't switch the display from DV1 to VGA. I'm really at a loss here—any advice would be appreciated!

You might want to check how many pins your monitor's VGA cable has. If it's a 15-pin VGA, it should generally work, but there are sometimes minor incompatibilities. Try using a different VGA cable if you have one handy, just to rule it out.
It sounds like your cables might be having an issue. Sometimes, VGA to HDMI adapters don't work well, especially if the cable is incompatible. Double-check if your adapter is powered if it requires a power source. Also, confirm that the HDMI cable is inserted correctly on both ends. That can often help solve the problem!
Forgive my ignorance, but does that mean my cable might just be no good? I have a male-to-male connection like the adapter said to use.
