Help! Damaged Motherboard While Unscrewing a Stuck Screw – What Should I Do?

I ran into a problem while cleaning my PC. While attempting to remove a stick screw from my motherboard, I accidentally damaged the area around it. Now, when I try to start my PC, the EZ Debug CPU light is on (solid white) and there's no display, not even the BIOS. I'm wondering if I need to replace my motherboard, take it to a repair shop, or if it's possible my CPU is at fault. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Definitely sounds like there’s a chance the motherboard is at least partially damaged. While unscrewing, if you used the board for leverage, that might’ve caused issues. Just be cautious while testing everything, and hopefully, nothing else was affected!

It sounds like you might have caused some damage, but it’s hard to say for sure without checking it. It’s a good idea to check the RAM seating first, maybe try just one stick or swap them out in different slots. Reseat your CPU if you can, and make sure all the power connectors are securely attached too. If things still don’t work, you might need a new motherboard. Fingers crossed it’s something simple!

Also, it’s worth checking your power plugs and making sure everything is connected properly. Sometimes the issue is just a loose connection.

Let’s hope for the best! If you can, make sure to upload the image of the damage; it might help diagnose the problem better.
