Help! My Dell laptop only charges to 1%, what can I do?

I'm struggling with my Dell laptop since it won't charge past 1%. I've tried multiple chargers, switched outlets, and even powered it off and on, but nothing seems to help. This issue started right after I accidentally let the battery die completely, and it's been slow ever since. I've had the laptop for just 2 months, and the only thing I've downloaded recently is a demo game from Steam. I'm wondering if this is a software issue I can fix myself, or if I should take it to a repair shop.

Try this: unplug your power cord, then hold down the power button for 30 seconds before releasing it. After that, plug it back in and press the power button again. It might just reset the battery's recognition process, which could help with the charging issue.

I tried that, but my laptop dies before I can hold it for 30 seconds, only gets to about 15 seconds. Any other suggestions?
