Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a jam and could really use some help. This is the second time I'm posting because the first attempt didn't show up in the feed—sorry about that! I'm using an E14 Lenovo ThinkPad with Ubuntu 24.04. I accidentally installed the Unity desktop while trying to get the Unity game engine, and after uninstalling it (I followed a Linux guide), it said I might need to reinstall GNOME. I thought everything was fine, so I rebooted my laptop, but now it's stuck on the rebooting screen for about 30 minutes! There's also an Ubuntu Unity logo under the Lenovo one. I'm really stressing out and worried I might have to factory reset my laptop. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Also, I've tried turning it off and on again, but that didn't help.

It’s tough to diagnose without more details like error messages, but it sounds like your core components are fine. You might not need to reinstall the whole system. Try to gather more information from logs if you can!
If you can’t log in, it’s tricky since you might need to access the recovery menu. Have you considered creating a bootable USB drive with Ubuntu on it to reset or repair your installation?
Have you tried getting into a tty session by pressing Ctrl+Alt+F3? That might help you troubleshoot further if you can access a command line interface.
If all else fails, you could try a factory reset, but it seems excessive since you just need to get through this boot issue first. Let's focus on getting you booted up again!
