Hey everyone! I've got this old PC that I left untouched for about 5 or 6 months, and now I'm trying to get it up and running so I can format it and give it to a friend. The setup includes an MSI z170a motherboard, but when I power it on, I don't hear any beeps and the monitor doesn't show anything. The motherboard displays some random codes, which I could really use some help decoding. I've already replaced the CMOS battery and even tried shorting the CMOS jumper, but that didn't help. I also removed the RAM, but still no luck. I'm starting to think about just giving it away as is—without a hard drive to protect my data—but I'd really love to get it working since it's worth about $500. Any suggestions on what else I can try?

First off, check if your motherboard is compatible with the components you have. Make sure all the power supply cables are securely connected. Try disconnecting all the hardware except for the motherboard and testing it that way—sometimes too many components can cause issues.
You should definitely check the codes on the MSI forum linked here: https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?threads/bios-debug-hex-codes-decoded.263610/. If you're getting codes like 00, 4c, 55, 0d, and 19, the 55 one usually means there's an issue with the memory. It might be worth testing each RAM stick separately to see if one of them is faulty.
