Hey everyone, I'm looking for some advice on which graphics card to go for as I'm planning to upgrade my gaming setup. Here's my current setup: Ryzen 7 5700X, ASUS TUF GAMING B550-PLUS, and a Seasonic Focus Plus GOLD 550W power supply. My current GPU is an Nvidia GTX 1070 Ti. I'm trying to choose between the RX 9060 XT 16GB and the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB. The benchmarks suggest the Nvidia card might have a slight edge and I'm really intrigued by DLSS, though I've never used it before. That said, I have some concerns about the PCIe 4.0 x8 limitation on the RTX 5060. Pricing-wise, the RTX model is around $530 for the VENTUS version, which doesn't have the best cooling, while the RX 9060 XT comes in at about $460 for the base model. I'm eyeing better cooling options like the SAPPHIRE NITRO+ RX 9060 XT Gaming OC for $507 and the MSI RTX 5060 Ti Gaming Trio OC priced at $613. My goal is to game at 1440p with all settings maxed out, including ray tracing. Given that this is an upgrade, I want the best experience possible. What do you all think? Which card fits the bill better?

If you can find a good deal on the 5070, that would give you a significant performance boost. The RX 9060 XT is decent, especially for its price, but it won't be as future-proof compared to the 5070 considering how games are evolving.

Got it! I’ll definitely check out the 5070 before making any decisions.

Honestly, if you want to maximize your performance at 1440p with ray tracing, I'd suggest looking at either the RX 9060 XT or potentially stretching your budget a bit for the RTX 5070 if it's available. The 5060 Ti is decent, but not the best option for those settings, especially if you’re hoping for a flawless experience. You might also want to factor in your power supply since those newer cards can demand more power.

Thanks for the insight! I'll definitely consider bumping up my budget for the 5070.

Between the two, I'd lean towards the RX 9060 XT. It offers solid performance and is more geared towards what you're looking for at a better price point. Plus, if it can fit into your setup, it's a great investment for future-proofing as well.

Appreciate the advice! I was leaning towards the 9060 XT too.

I wouldn't recommend either of those cards for full 1440p with max settings and ray tracing. They struggle even at 1080p in some scenarios. If you're considering a serious upgrade for ray tracing, the RX 9070 or RTX 5070 would be far better options. The 5060 Ti has some good features like DLSS, but it really won’t hold up under heavy loads with ray tracing.

Thanks for the heads up! I’ll keep an eye on the 5070 options.
