Help! Why am I getting such low frame rates on my 2080 Ti?

I recently upgraded to an ASUS ROG STRIX 2080 Ti, and while I'm getting solid frame rates of around 120-144 in games like NBA 2k25 and FEZ, I'm facing a major drop in other games. For instance, in Baldur's Gate 3, my frame rates drop to about 40-60, and in Clair Obscura, it goes as low as 30. Here's my current build: an i5-10600K CPU, Cooler Master Hyper 212 Black Edition cooler, MSI Z490-A Pro motherboard, 16GB of RAM, a 1TB SSD, and an EVGA 500 BR 500W power supply. I'm not very tech-savvy, so I'm not sure how to find and fix the bottleneck. Any advice would really help!

Yeah, definitely upgrade your power supply. Something around 750W should be more than enough for your setup, and it will give you some headroom for future upgrades too. Plus, it should help with those FPS drops!

It sounds like your GPU might be running into power limitations. That 500W power supply is a bit on the low side for a 2080 Ti, which can draw quite a bit of power, especially under heavy load. You might want to consider upgrading to a higher wattage PSU to see if that improves performance.

How would I be able to confirm if that's the issue?

Honestly, you’re trying to push that 2080 Ti with a pretty weak power supply. You should really think about a bigger PSU—you're going to need it for gaming without throttling. It’ll help with stability in high-demand scenarios too!

What PSU would you recommend? Is it safe for my current cooling setup?
