How can I free up space on my Windows 10 computer without deleting files?

I'm struggling with my Windows 10 PC because the C drive is almost full, with only about 110GB. I do have a second drive (D) that has a lot more space. However, when I try downloading or moving files to the second drive, it still shows up as taking space on the C drive, which makes no sense since I never asked it to do that. Additionally, I think my USB flash drive might be broken, which doesn't help my situation. Can anyone offer advice on how I can clear up space on my C drive without having to delete important files? I've noticed that my Google Drive is also taking up a lot of space on my computer, even though it says it's stored in the cloud. I have those files backed up on my phone too. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

When you move files over, make sure they aren't being synced automatically to your C drive. If you’re transferring old videos and pictures, try using the 'cut and paste' method directly to your D drive. Also, for Google Drive, you can adjust the settings and choose to remove the local version of your files while keeping them in the cloud. Check your Google Drive settings and look for 'sync options' to manage space better.

Yeah, just be careful not to delete anything in the cloud by mistake! It's a good idea to do a quick backup just in case.

To clear up some space without deleting anything, you might want to run the Disk Cleanup tool on Windows. It helps to remove temporary files and other unnecessary data. Also, consider moving larger files like videos directly to the D drive first before any other operations since those usually take a lot of disk space. You can also explore using external storage for backups of files you rarely access.

Exactly, using external storage can really free up a lot of space! Plus, it keeps your important files safe just in case.
