How can I identify and dispute an unexplained pending Apple charge linked to YouTube?

I have an unpaid transaction showing in my Apple Account under "Movies & Shows," with YouTube listed as the associated service. I checked my YouTube and Google accounts carefully, including purchases, rentals, subscriptions, movies, and shows, but there is no matching transaction. I also did not authorize the charge.
Because the transaction is still pending, Apple says it cannot show me the specific item. I have contacted Apple twice, but they only told me that I must pay the charge before they can investigate it, and that App Store purchases and Apple subscriptions will remain unavailable until it is paid. YouTube and Google both said they have no record of the charge.
Nobody else uses my account, and I have strong account security in place. I have also checked the likely purchase and billing locations, contacted my bank, and spoken with Fair Trading, but they advised me to keep trying to resolve it with the merchant first.
I am uncomfortable paying for something I cannot identify, especially since Apple has faced criticism over similar billing issues. What should I check next, and has anyone dealt with an unexplained pending Apple transaction like this?

Since the transaction is still pending, Google or YouTube may not show anything yet because the payment has not completed. Check the Apple Account itself rather than only the Google services: look under Media & Purchases, then Purchase History, and review the email associated with the Apple Account for any billing notices.

It may be worth waiting until the pending charge posts. If it really came through Appleโs billing system, the completed transaction should normally reveal the specific app, subscription, rental, or other item involved. That information could make it easier to challenge the charge.

If the amount is small and it is not an ongoing subscription, paying it may restore access and make the transaction easier to investigate afterward. You can still dispute it, although there is no guarantee that the dispute will succeed if Apple considers the charge authorized.

MellowBirch47: I understand that approach, but I am reluctant to pay an unexplained charge just to get basic account access back. I would rather identify what it is first and challenge it through the proper process.
