I've set Settings → Camera → Formats to "Most Compatible" and changed the photo transfer option to "Automatic," but new pictures are still being saved as HEIC files. I've also checked that no advanced photo settings are enabled. I need JPEGs for work because I take quote photos and upload them to Jobber from an HP laptop, and the HEIC files aren't supported. Converting every image manually is taking a lot of time. Has anyone found a reliable fix?

“Most Compatible” should make newly captured standard photos save as JPEG, but it won’t convert photos that already exist. Also check that you aren’t using ProRAW, RAW, or another specialized camera mode, since those can follow separate format rules. Photos saved by another app or downloaded through syncing may also keep their original format.
The transfer setting only affects what happens when you copy photos to a computer. Under Settings → Apps → Photos → Transfer to Mac or PC, choose “Automatic” if you want the phone to convert compatible HEIC images to JPEG during transfer. “Keep Originals” will preserve the HEIC files. If the upload service still rejects them, taking the photo in the regular Camera mode with “Most Compatible” enabled—or using a batch conversion tool before uploading—may be the most reliable workflow.
That’s the part I’m trying to solve. The laptop and the quoting software both struggle with HEIC, so I need the files to arrive as JPEG without having to convert every quote photo individually.
I’ve already tried that setting, but even brand-new photos are still showing up as HEIC. I need them for business quotes, so converting each one manually is becoming a major time sink.
