I recently started at a smaller company and ran into a frustrating issue with the email system. The admin for our CEO told me that she can no longer select his name from the autocomplete feature in the To: field when composing a new message. It seems like, somehow, she might have accidentally removed it by clicking the red X next to his name, which I was able to replicate with a coworker's name on my end. I've tried numerous steps to get his name to show back up but haven't had any luck. Here's what I've attempted so far: 1) Clearing the AutoComplete list; 2) Creating a new mail profile; 3) Deleting the Stream_Autocomplete_#######.dat file; 4) Trying Outlook on the Web; 5) Using MFCMAPI to see if I could find something blocking it; 6) Sending messages to my coworker; 7) Having my coworker respond to my emails; 8) Running some PowerShell commands to toggle message copy settings; 9) Manually adding the coworker as a contact.
I don't want to tell the CEO's admin just to type in his full email address every time she needs to send a message. I'm hesitant to open a support ticket with Microsoft after a previous frustrating experience, but I might have to. Any ideas on how to fix this?

I tried using PowerShell commands and other fixes too, but if the same issue is happening both in the Outlook client and Outlook on the Web, it might mean the fix has to be done through OWA or the Exchange Admin settings instead of just the client. Keep tinkering with those!
In the meantime, just have your coworker send an email to the CEO directly. It’s a bit of a hassle, but often that’s all it takes for their name to reappear in autocomplete again. Although it might seem slow, it usually sorts itself out without waiting the full 72 hours.
Don't forget that sending an email to the missing address is key! If that hasn't worked yet, maybe try sending a few more emails to see if anything changes. It's definitely frustrating, but Outlook sometimes just needs a little nudge to remember.
You might want to check your .nk2 file; it sometimes gets corrupted and that can mess up the autocomplete feature. Recreating it could help resolve the issue. More info about it can be found on the Microsoft support site if you're unsure about the process.
