I'm using Windows 10 and need to transfer files from my old external HDD to a new external SSD. I've got various software like Davinci referencing files and saving projects on the old drive, plus a bunch of other preferences set up to use this drive. Since I'm not very tech-savvy, I'm wondering, is it just a simple copy-paste, or is there more to it? What's the best way to do this without losing important data?

You can definitely copy and paste, but just be aware that it will change the file timestamps and could be interrupted. A better option is to use a tool called Robocopy. It's built into Windows and is designed to make copying files much more reliable. It also helps keep the original timestamps in place. You can find more detailed instructions online for it.
Interesting! So if I’m using OBS and I have those files saved on my HDD for soundboards and layouts, will Robocopy help keep those file paths intact so I don’t have to reconfigure everything in OBS?
