Hey everyone! I'm about to get an iPhone 17 with 512GB of storage, and I have a question about iMessages and iCloud. If I enable the option to keep messages forever and switch on iCloud for iMessages, will all my past conversations and any media I've sent or received be backed up or synced from the very beginning of when I started using iMessages on my iPhone?

Exactly! If you had messages before enabling iCloud, those won’t be backed up, but everything going forward will be synced seamlessly.
Just to clarify, iCloud only syncs messages that exist on your device. It won’t pull older messages from the ether if you hadn't had iCloud on before.
iCloud will sync all the messages currently on your iPhone, so you'll have everything from the moment you enable it. However, it won't retrieve messages from before you turned on iCloud, just the ones that are already there.
