I've had this iPhone for about two or three years. It suddenly dropped to 1%, and I got a notification saying the battery couldn't be recognized. The same warning appears in Settings, and now the phone won't charge or hold a charge. What could be causing this, and what are my repair options?

The battery likely needs to be replaced, although the exact iPhone model would help confirm the situation. A failed battery, a loose connection, or a problem with a previous battery replacement can all trigger this warning. An Apple Store or authorized repair provider can run a diagnostic and replace it if necessary. AppleCare+ coverage depends on the plan terms and the battery’s condition, so it’s worth checking before assuming the repair is free.

Be careful about assuming AppleCare+ covers it after two years. Battery service generally depends on the plan’s coverage period and whether the battery has fallen below the required capacity threshold. I ended up replacing my phone when the repair wasn’t covered.
