I'm considering building a system with an RTX 5080 and an i7-14700K. Would 850W be sufficient for this setup? Additionally, I'm curious if this power supply would allow for overclocking the RTX 5080. Any insights?

Yep, 850W should be adequate for that setup!

Seems like a solid choice to me! But I'm just curious, what's the rationale behind pairing the i7-14700K with the 5080?

Yeah, what's wrong with the 14700K? It looks like a great combo to me!

I'm not seeing any issues with it either. Is there something I'm missing here?

An 850W power supply should handle that combo well! Just make sure it's a good quality unit. Do you know the brand and model?

For stock settings, you should be fine. As for overclocking, it depends. These newer cards have some good potential for OC, although you might run into diminishing returns depending on the cooling and power limits.

Totally! The 5000 series GPUs have decent overclocking headroom. You can usually get an extra 10-15% performance out of the RTX 5080 unless you bought a model with a locked power limit.
