Is it worth moving my OS from a SATA SSD to an NVMe SSD?

I've got a setup with a 256 GB SATA SSD mainly used for my OS, plus a 1 TB hard drive. Recently, I got my hands on a 1 TB NVMe SSD and I'm debating whether it makes sense to transfer my operating system over to it. The SATA SSD only holds my OS, so there's no data loss concern on that front. However, I've heard mixed advice about whether it's better to keep the OS separate from other drives. Should I go ahead and switch it over?

I don’t think there's a reason to keep the OS on a separate drive anymore. As long as the NVMe is yours, switch to it! Just make sure to back up anything important before you do.

Honestly, if your SATA SSD is running fast enough for you now, there’s no huge rush to move the OS. You can always partition the NVMe SSD later if you decide to switch. But if you want the best speed, the NVMe is the way to go when you’re ready for a fresh install.

It's smart to have your OS on the fastest drive you have—especially now that the NVMe is available. The whole idea of keeping it on a separate drive is outdated; just move it and enjoy the improved boot times!

Moving your OS to the NVMe will definitely speed things up. It's the fastest option, so I say go for it. Plus, it’s not really a hassle since you can reinstall and set everything up there.

Totally agree! Just make sure to unplug the SATA SSD during the installation to avoid any confusion.
