Is My 12600K CPU Enough for My 5070 Ti?

I recently upgraded to a 5070 Ti GPU, and overall my PC is performing well. However, I've noticed some stuttering and brief freezes while playing Elden Ring, which seem to get worse the longer I play. It's only a problem with Elden Ring; other games run smoothly. I'm wondering if my 12600K CPU could be bottlenecking my GPU and, if so, should I consider upgrading my CPU? Also, if an upgrade is necessary, would switching to AMD be wise? For reference, I frequently play AAA titles like the Horizon series and Ghost of Tsushima, along with doing some video editing in DaVinci (nothing too intense) and basic tasks. I'm using a compact ITX setup with a dan a4 case and I'd like to stick with my current PSU unless it fails. Any recommendations for a new CPU or an updated AIO cooler would be appreciated!

Your setup with the 12600K and 5070 Ti should be fine for a while. Check back in a few years when newer titles might require more power. For now, it sounds good!

Elden Ring is notoriously hard on hardware and not the best judge of bottlenecks. Just look at your GPU usage in other games; if it's hitting near 100%, your GPU is usually the limit, which is what you want for gaming. Take Elden Ring's performance with a grain of salt!

This makes total sense! Thanks for clarifying.

I've felt the same; it really seems like the game has its own issues!

Definitely keep an eye on CPU usage. If you see some cores maxing out, that could indicate a bottleneck. But remember, Elden Ring is capped at 60 FPS, so other AAA games might be a better test for bottlenecks!

I feel like Elden Ring might just be poorly optimized. My CPU shows decent usage elsewhere too.

Agreed! Seems like the game itself could be the culprit.
