Is My Dell Laptop Dead? Troubleshooting BSOD and Data Retrieval

Hey everyone! I've been experiencing some serious issues with my Dell G5 15 5587, which is about 7 years old now. Lately, I've been getting Blue Screens of Death with errors like 'Critical Process Died' and 'Store Exception'. When I go into the Dell BIOS setup, it says there are no bootable devices found. I've tried running sfc /scannow, DISM Online, and chkdsk on my main SSD, and everything seemed fine there. The RAM stress test was also okay. The event log mentioned some issues with DistributedCOM and AppReadiness, possibly linked to explorer.exe or svhost.exe. My battery definitely needs replacing, but it was working fine until these BSODs started. Now, I'm scared to boot it up again because I don't want to lose any data. So, is my laptop done for? And how can I retrieve data from both my SSD and HDD?

You can use Hiren's Boot CD, which is a live OS based on Windows 11, to back up your important data before trying any fixes. After that, consider doing a clean install from a USB drive, erasing everything on your system drive to tackle any software issues that might be causing the BSODs.

That sounds helpful! Can you give me some more details? I'm not really tech-savvy, and I've got a lot of important files on both drives.

To analyze the BSODs better, you'll need the dump files from your computer. If you can boot into Windows, even in Safe Mode, check the C:WindowsMinidump folder for those. If you find any dump files, zip them up and upload them to a file-sharing service like catbox.moe or mediafire.com. We usually need multiple files for a clear analysis, so if you've only got one, still upload it and follow guides to set up small memory dumps for any future issues.
