After 20 years away from PC gaming, I'm diving back in and planning to build a new rig. I've been checking compatibility and fitments, but I'm worried I might be overlooking something crucial. My budget is pretty flexible, but I don't want to go too crazy with the spending. Here's what I have lined up for my build:
1. Case: NZXT H7 Flow RGB ATX Mid Tower Black
2. Motherboard: Gigabyte X870E AORUS PRO
3. CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D
4. CPU Cooler: ARCTIC Liquid Freezer III 360mm
5. PSU: Corsair RMe 1000W 80 Plus GOLD
6. RAM: CORSAIR Vengeance RGB DDR5 64GB (2x32GB) DDR5 6000MHz CL30
7. SSD: M.2 Samsung NVMe 990 PRO 2TB
8. GPU: Gigabyte GeForce RTX3080Ti Gaming 12GB OC (used, can't switch it).
I realized I'll mainly be gaming at 2K resolution, and I'm now considering whether I should be looking into a 4070 Super instead of the 3080 Ti. Am I missing any parts or should I rethink any components?

I’ve seen mixed reviews on that Gigabyte motherboard. It’s had some BIOS issues in the past. You might want to check out MSI or ASUS options instead; they have a better track record lately.
Good call! I've had a lot better luck with MSI boards.
You're set for a nice rig! Just remember, 64GB of RAM is likely more than you need for regular gaming. You could save some money by cutting that down to 32GB and still be future-proof.
Thanks for the insight! That could definitely help with budget.
Yeah, 32GB is plenty for gaming and multitasking.
You might want to evaluate your GPU choice further. Spending so much and only pairing it with a 3080 seems off. You might be disappointed if you find a great deal on a newer card.
That's true! Just keep an eye on availability and deals.
I updated my post just now—going for 2K gaming, and I found a nice deal on the 3080Ti!
Your build looks solid! The RTX 3080 Ti will still give you excellent performance at 2K, so you shouldn’t worry too much about that right now. It’s a great choice for balancing price and performance. Focus on nailing the setup and enjoy the gaming!
Totally agree! The 3080 Ti is still a beast for 2K gaming.
Yeah, I’ve been using mine at 1440p and it handles everything smoothly.
Welcome back to PC building! Just a heads up, you might want to consider dropping to 850W for your PSU. It's more efficient and sufficient for your build without overspending.
Agreed! Plus, you can put that cash towards a better GPU later if needed.
Thanks for the tip! I might just look for a quality 850W instead.
Yeah, I’ve heard those stories too. A smooth motherboard experience can save a lot of headaches.
