I'm considering a full upgrade for my PC since it's nearing 5 years old and showing some wear. I want to save up money from my summer job to change things up. Here's my current setup and the parts I'm thinking of upgrading to. I'm curious if the new parts are a good choice or if there are better options out there at similar prices. Also, can I keep using my existing cooler and RAM?
**Current Build:**
- CPU: Ryzen 7 3700x
- Cooler: Noctua NH-D15
- Motherboard: B450 Tomahawk
- RAM: Corsair Vengeance 32GB (2x 16)
- Storage: 970 Evo 1TB
- GPU: AMD Radeon 5600XT
**Proposed Upgrade:**
- CPU: Ryzen 9 7900x
- Cooler: Noctua NH-D15 (same)
- Motherboard: MSI B650 ATX AM5
- RAM: Corsair Vengeance 32GB (2x 16) (same)
- Storage: 990 Pro 2TB
- GPU: Gigabyte WINDFORCE RTX 5070 12GB VRAM
- PSU: MSI MAG A750GL W80+ Gold

I would actually recommend going for the Ryzen 7 9700X instead of the 7900X. It's less power-hungry while delivering nearly the same performance and comes with newer architecture. Just remember, you can't use your current RAM; they'll physically not fit due to the notches.
Yeah, definitely check into it. Sounds like a smart choice!
Your upgrade looks solid! Just keep in mind that you'll need new RAM because AM5 only supports DDR5. A 6000 MHz CL30 kit should work great. Also, double-check if your Noctua cooler came with an AM5 bracket; if not, you can contact them, and they'll send you one for free.
Got it, thanks for the tip! I'm also looking into the RAM you mentioned, any specific brands to look at?
Yeah, Corsair or G.Skill both have great options for DDR5!
Thanks for the suggestion! I'll definitely consider that.
