Is my RTX 3070 still up to the task with only 8GB of VRAM?

I've always checked if I can run games using 'Can You Run It' before purchasing, and when I looked up Monster Hunter Wilds, it showed that I didn't meet the recommended specs due to my 8GB VRAM. Does this mean my GPU might struggle with newer games as they come out? I'm also unsure how to know when it's time to upgrade my hardware. Additionally, is there a program I can use to test if my GPU is functioning properly?

You should still be able to run it, but you'll need to tweak some settings. If you turn on DLSS or FSR 3 frame generation and keep Vsync off, you can likely hit 60fps on medium settings at 1080p. Also, don't forget to enable Nvidia Reflex Low Latency mode for a smoother experience!

Your 3070 is still a decent card! If you try to max out settings at 1440p or even high settings at 1080p, you might hit the VRAM limit. Just play around with your graphics settings, and you should be fine.

There are some AAA games where you'll feel the limitations of VRAM, but your card can still run most games at least at 1080p or even 1440p. You might need to lower some settings and could experience occasional stuttering or texture issues. If a game doesn't run how you'd like, just refund it on Steam. Most titles should still be enjoyable!

Running at 1080p should be easier for you than going for 1440p since the latter demands more VRAM. The RTX 3070 can handle a good number of games for a while, just not at max settings. If you can find a 7700 XT for a reasonable price, consider swapping your 3070 for it.

I have an RTX 3070, and I've been playing Monster Hunter Wilds daily at a stable 60fps on 1440p using DLSS! Just drop the texture settings from high to mid, and you're good to go.

It really depends on your resolution and settings. You won't be able to max out Monster Hunter Wilds, but you can definitely play it at 1080p without too much hassle.
