Is the RX 6800 Reference Model a Good Buy?

I'm planning to upgrade from my RX 580 4GB after five years. I'm considering the RX 6800 reference model priced at $385, or the XFX Speedster Swift 6800 for $400. I also want to know if I can overclock the reference model without any issues. What do you think?

I've been using the RX 6800 for about 18 months, and while it was good back then, there are much better options now for a similar price. It’s getting old, lacks ray tracing, and the drivers aren't helping anymore. Definitely consider looking elsewhere for a better deal.

Thanks for the heads up! I'm now checking out the 9060XT. Is Newegg a reliable site? I've mostly bought from eBay and Facebook in the past.

Honestly, $385 isn't the best deal right now. You might want to check out the RX 9060XT 16GB or RX 7800XT instead. They offer better performance for a similar price.

I'd suggest you skip the 6800 and look at this setup instead: ASRock Challenger OC Radeon RX 9060 XT 16 GB for $369.99 at Newegg. It's a better bang for your buck!
