I just bought an RTX 5070, but I'm not ready to upgrade my motherboard and CPU yet. I'm thinking about sticking with the AM4 socket—would the Ryzen 5800X3D be the best choice for this setup, or are there better options available?

Great setup if you can manage it! Just be aware that AM4 X3D CPUs are a bit overpriced nowadays. You might find a 5700X3D for around $250, whereas AM5 bundles start at $250 and go up from there. If you choose AM4, I'd recommend the 5700X3D for better value.

I’m currently running that combo and it's solid—no complaints here! You should be just fine with it for gaming.

I've got the 5600X3D with an RTX 4070 Super, and it's fantastic, especially at 1440p! You should be good with any of the X3D chips.

If you can snag a 5800X3D at a good price, go for it! But honestly, the 5700X3D might offer similar performance for a bit less cash, depending on what's in stock in your area. Just a heads-up, though: for gaming, a non-X3D CPU might serve you better if you're using it for other tasks too.

You'll be fine with a 5800X3D. Even a 5600 will do well! Just make sure the rest of your system is running at PCIe 4.0. The performance difference in real-world gaming isn't as drastic as some benchmarks suggest—it really comes down to your graphics card doing the heavy lifting!
