I'm considering getting a 27-inch 2K monitor for production work, and I'm wondering if I can rely solely on the Ryzen 7 5700G without a discrete GPU. Can it handle production tasks as well as some gaming on the side?

The integrated GPU on the Ryzen 7 5700G is similar to the performance of a GT 1030. You might want to check out benchmarks for that to get an idea of how it performs in various games.

So far, I've been doing 2D animation without issues. I get that AAA games might be off the table, but what do you think about playing some indie titles?

If you're focusing on 2D production work, it should be fine. Just remember that for any serious gaming or 3D work, the 5700G won't cut it.

You can definitely play older and simpler games like Civ 5 or Fallout 1/2 with that setup. But don't expect smooth performance on modern titles like Witcher 3; it might struggle for frames.
