Hey everyone! I'm currently using an NVIDIA RTX 1650 SUPER, which is getting pretty outdated. I'm looking to make a significant upgrade and I'm torn between going for the RTX 4070 or the RTX 5070. I've seen some posts suggesting the 4070 might be the better option, but I want to know if it's worth jumping straight to the 50 series. Also, I'll be pairing the new GPU with a Ryzen 7 7700x. Any advice here would be really helpful. Thanks and have a great day!

If you're gaming at 1080p or 1440p, I think it's definitely worth considering the RTX 5070. At its price range of about $550-$650, it performs well for those resolutions!
I upgraded from a 1080 to a 5070 and saw a massive performance jump—around 2x! It handles 1440p at 75Hz on ultra settings like a champ. Going from a 1650 to a 5070 means you’re looking at about a 4x increase. Just keep an eye on whether 12GB of VRAM will suffice for your needs; it has worked for me!
Totally agree! My 4070 Ti (12GB) has been perfect for gaming and video editing paired with my Ryzen 9 5900X. Such a great combo!
Make sure to look for cards with at least 16GB of VRAM. The 4070 Ti with 16GB will outperform the 5070 significantly at higher resolutions.
I see what you mean! Is 16GB okay with my Ryzen 7 7700x setup? I'm still learning, haha!
The 4070 Ti does have a slight edge, but not by much. You’re looking at a premium for the 5070 especially as it offers access to the MFG benefits. The 5070 is priced at $550 MSRP, and you can find it for less than $650 if you're patient. Just keep your price limit in check; I’d say no more than $600 for a 4070 Ti.
So the 4070 Ti Super is decent then?
Just to clarify, make sure you're considering the right models. The 4070 Super is solid and might suit you better depending on pricing. For now, with the Ryzen 7 7700x, either the 4070 Ti Super 16GB or the 5070 Ti 16GB seems like a wise choice. But be cautious; the 5070 at 12GB might hit some limits sooner than you expect. There’s also buzz about a possible 5070 Super with 18GB VRAM—might be worth waiting for!
Thank you! That's good to know, taking note!
