Hey everyone! I just got promoted to IT Administrator after working as an IT Support. I'm looking for some advice from those with experience in this role. What skills should I focus on developing to really excel in my new position, and what tips do you have for succeeding in this field?

Make sure to identify gaps in your systems where you can improve efficiency. Networking is crucial too—ask people what a 'better' IT environment means to them, and don’t hesitate to share your own knowledge with coworkers. It'll pay off in the long run!
Definitely check out the NIST framework, especially if your organization already uses it. Understanding those controls, like backups and disaster recovery, is key. And make sure to document everything as you go!
Congrats on the promotion! You might get plenty of technical advice, but don’t forget about soft skills. Building strong relationships with users and coworkers can really elevate your career. Also, it's completely fine to ask questions—most people respect that. Just make sure you test things in a safe environment before going live. If you haven’t already, diving into PowerShell is a game changer!
Thanks for the tips! I’m definitely planning to work on my PowerShell skills.
