Hey everyone! I'm in a bit of a pickle with my Windows PC. For some reason, it just won't accept my correct password when I try to log in. I've double-checked my keyboard layout and even tried the on-screen keyboard, but nothing seems to help. To top it off, whenever I attempt to access recovery options like System Restore or Safe Mode, it continuously prompts me for my password again, which it won't accept. Essentially, I'm completely locked out and can't reach any built-in recovery tools because they all require the password that isn't working. Any ideas on what I can do?

It all depends on whether you're signing in with a Microsoft account or a local account. If it's a Microsoft account, you can reset your password right from the login screen. For a local account, you might want to look up how to create a USB installer and boot from it. Once you’re in, you can enable the built-in administrator account to log in and reset your password. Just be cautious—this will invalidate any saved passwords in the Windows credential manager, so you'll have to re-enter them later.
Have you heard about using chntpw? It's a tool that can help reset Windows passwords. You can download it, but just a heads-up, if your drive has BitLocker enabled, this method might not work.
How exactly do I go about using chntpw? I'm a bit new to all of this.
I think if you have BitLocker installed, this approach could be an issue, just a heads-up.
Thanks, I didn't realize that! So I should really be careful with the saved passwords.
