I'm considering getting into VR gaming as a way to enhance my experiences with games like iRacing and DCS. However, my PC definitely needs an upgrade to be VR-ready, and I'm not sure where to start. I currently have three basic 60Hz monitors, and for DCS and iRacing, I use them in a triple-monitor setup. My budget for an upgrade, including a VR headset, is around $1000, with a max of $1500 if necessary. I'm not looking for the highest specs—just good value for my money. Also, I'm not currently using the NVIDIA GPU I have, as it's still in the box. Any suggestions on a good VR headset and what upgrades I should consider for my PC?

As a fellow DCS player, I'd recommend building your setup with plenty of RAM since DCS can be RAM-heavy, especially on intense maps. If crowded servers are not your thing, you could go with 32 GB of RAM and grab a better GPU instead!
Your current setup is already pretty VR-ready! You might just want to pick a headset to get started. If you're willing to invest up to $1500, you might consider a full rebuild, but you could also just upgrade certain parts and keep what’s still functional.
Definitely check out the Oculus Quest 2 or the Valve Index—they're both popular options!
For a solid upgrade, think about getting a Ryzen 5700X3D processor, a better cooler for it, and then a new GPU like the RX 6700 XT or RX 9070. This combo would give you the performance you need without breaking the bank!
