I've got a Dell Precision 5550 with 32GB of RAM, an Intel i7-10850H, and an Nvidia Quadro T1000 graphics card. I've had this laptop for a year, but I've started having a strange issue in the last five months. Whenever I start playing games, it runs fine for about 5-10 minutes before unexpectedly going into hibernate mode. This is particularly annoying for online games since it disconnects me, and I got suspended once during a Valorant match! At first, it only happened with Red Dead Redemption 2 and Forza Horizon 4, but now it's happening with other games too.
I investigated online and saw that a common cause might be related to battery health, but mine seems to be 'fair' according to Dell's power manager software. I've mostly used the laptop plugged in, and all my drivers are updated. The power cable looks good to me as well. I do notice that the laptop gets quite hot, but it has before without issues. I'm looking for any assistance or insights into what might be causing this problem. Thanks!

You might want to try turning off hibernation completely and see what happens. Sometimes, it can help with performance issues, and it might prevent those random shut-offs.
I'll give that a shot, thanks! But I don't quite get how turning it off will free up drive space—doesn't hibernation mainly use RAM?
