Hey everyone, I need some help with my Asus Vivobook 16 (X1605V). It unexpectedly shut down while I was watching YouTube and now it won't turn back on. I've noticed that when I plug it in, none of the charging lights activate, the screen stays completely black, and the fans don't make a sound either. Here's what I've tried so far:
- I did a hard reset by holding the power button for 30 to 60 seconds.
- Opened up the laptop and disconnected/reconnected the battery.
- I removed the RAM stick, cleaned it with isopropyl alcohol, and reinstalled it. I even attempted to boot without the removable RAM.
- Tried multiple power outlets to see if that would help.
Currently, the laptop shows no signs of life at all—no fan spinning, no flickers on the screen. Strangely, when it's plugged in, I hear a faint high-pitched whine (not the BIOS beeps) if I get close to it. The pitch changes when I press the power button and stops when I unplug it from the AC, even with the battery disconnected.
Does anyone have any idea what might be going on? Thanks in advance for your help! And sorry if my English isn't perfect, I'm still learning!

I suspect it could be a dead power brick. You could test this by using a USB-C power charger rated at least 65W. If that works, then your original AC adapter might be faulty.
If you're okay with taking a screwdriver to it, I recommend completely unplugging the battery while the laptop is off. After a few moments, reconnect the battery, plug it into the wall, and give it another shot.
I had a similar issue! Have you checked if the power indicator is on at all? That might give you a clue if it's getting any power.
Some laptop models need a fully functional internal battery to boot up. If the internal battery has stopped charging, it could be the culprit and might need replacing.
No, unfortunately, the power led doesn’t light up, and neither does the charging light.
