My Second Monitor Went Black During AMD Software Installation—Any Fixes?

Hey everyone! I've been having a tough time with my setup. I'm using a laptop with a broken screen, so I rely on a second monitor. While I was installing some AMD software, I kept running into error 1603 and decided to try uninstalling the old version. At first, everything was okay, but then my second monitor suddenly lost signal, and my broken laptop screen turned back on. I thought it would be fine and that the drivers were just updating. But then I hit F5 to switch between display modes, and nothing happened. Since I can't see my laptop screen at all, I'm stuck here. I tried restarting, but the issue persists. Any suggestions would be awesome! Also, I attempted to put it to sleep mode with F1, but that didn't work either.

I’ve had similar issues with AMD and Windows updates causing my extra monitors to not be detected. The trick is usually to uninstall the AMD software, make sure all Windows updates are done, and then reinstall the AMD software. I can't imagine how you'd do that without seeing your main monitor, though. Maybe you should consider replacing your laptop screen soon, especially since it sounds like you're needing to use a second monitor all the time.

I didn’t want to spend extra right now because I’m planning to change it in a few months anyway. Thanks for the suggestion, though!

Have you tried the shortcut Windows + P to change the display output? It should let you switch displays. Sometimes that helps in cases like yours!

I tried that, and it does the same thing as F5, so no luck there.
