Hey everyone! I'm looking to build my first PC since the one I bought about 5-6 years ago isn't cutting it anymore for gaming and work. My current setup isn't able to handle new game titles well, and I'm hoping to upgrade. My current specs include an ASUS Crosshair VI Hero motherboard, AMD Ryzen 5 2600X CPU, ASUS Strix GTX 1070 GPU, and 32GB of RAM among others.
I'm stuck on a few choices. First, I'm debating between black and white for my build, even though I know white parts often come at a premium. I don't have a strict budget since I want to invest in quality parts that will last me 4-5 years. Previously, I spent around $1,500, and it served me well.
For the CPU, I'm looking at either the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D or the 7800X3D. The 7800X3D is currently about €130 cheaper, but I've read the 9800X3D is only slightly better. Should I spend the extra cash for potentially better longevity?
For the GPU, I initially considered the RTX 5080, but the VRAM concerns me and I don't want to wait a year for potentially better options. Alternatively, I might go for the AMD 9070XT for around €750, though the 5070 Ti is just a bit more expensive. Some sources say for 4K gaming, I should be looking at the 5090, but that's way more than I want to spend.
I'm also eyeing the Hyte Y70 case (without a screen) and planning to keep my AIO cooler and fans. Additionally, I want to upgrade to 32GB of new DDR5 RAM and a compatible AM5 motherboard.
I'd really appreciate some advice to help make these decisions! Thanks for reading!

For the aesthetics, it's really up to you! Just remember, the white case usually costs more. For gaming, I highly recommend the 7800X3D because it's one of the best for that purpose and won't break the bank. As for the GPU, the RTX 5070 Ti is the sweet spot right now; it offers great performance without the super high price tag of the 5080, which is only a bit faster. And don’t overlook cost-effective cases—they can save you some cash!
Definitely go for the 9800X3D! I've got it myself, and I can assure you it's worth it. Just make sure you pair it with 6000MHz CL30 RAM for the best performance!
But is spending that extra €130 just for a few percentage points really worth it? You might be better off investing more in the GPU instead.
