I'm finally ready to buy the parts for my first PC build after lots of research! My main focus will be productivity with Adobe Premiere, After Effects, and a bit of Blender. While gaming and streaming will be occasional uses, I want to make sure I'm not over-investing for my primary use cases. Here's what I've selected so far, and I'd love your thoughts on a few specific parts!
- **CPU:** Intel i9-12900K
- **Motherboard:** ASUS Z790 Prime Gaming WIFI7 Intel LGA 1700 ATX
- **RAM:** G.Skill Ripjaws S5, planning to upgrade from 32GB to 64GB or even 128GB since I want to maximize performance for my apps.
- **GPU:** I've been eyeing the 5060 Ti (16GB) for about $500, but considering the Peladn RTX 3060 (12GB) for $285. I'm unsure if I should invest the extra cash for a higher-end GPU, as I've been told it won't dramatically impact my productivity.
- **Storage:** Samsung 990 PRO 2TB NVMe SSD
- **Power Supply:** Corsair RM750e (750 Watt)
- **Cooling:** Lian Li Galahad II Trinity Performance 360mm Liquid Cooler, though I'm open to recommendations for air cooling if it's more practical.
- **Case:** Lian Li 011 Vision Compact
I did look at AMD CPUs and GPUs, but the Intel and Nvidia options seem to better fit my needs within my budget. Please provide any advice, especially on the GPU choice and cooling options!

Regarding GPUs, if you're unsure about the 5060 Ti, remember that you might not need the latest model for your productivity tasks. The RTX 3060 should still perform well, especially considering the price difference. The SSD you picked is solid; just keep in mind that 2TB can fill up quickly with media projects.
Check out Puget Systems' hardware recommendations for After Effects — that might help you decide on the GPU. As for the i9-12900K, it should serve you well for video work. Just a heads up, DDR5 RAM can be a bit tricky with more than two DIMMs, so if you plan to upgrade, make sure to check compatibility.
Good point on the PSU! I'll definitely aim for a higher wattage to be safe, especially with an i9.
Thanks for the link! I was planning on selling the two 16GB sticks and sticking with 32GB or 64GB total. I appreciate the detail on the RAM!
That’s a good tip! I might just go with the 3060 and save some cash for more storage instead.
