Our department separated from the parent company and became an independent consultancy focused on Microsoft technologies. We moved our mailboxes from the parent company's Google Workspace environment to Exchange Online. The migration and webmail access work correctly, and the Microsoft 365 tenant is managed directly rather than federated. However, when users add their mailbox to Outlook Mobile, the sign-in process still redirects them to Google's login page. The laptops are currently unmanaged, and public DNS no longer appears to contain any Google-related records. Our domain is separate from the former company's namespace, and autodiscover.ourdomain.com is configured as a CNAME to autodiscover.outlook.com. What could still be causing Outlook Mobile to use Google authentication?

Since the tenant works through webmail and the domain is not federated, the remaining redirect may be caused by stale Google account configuration rather than your current DNS. Confirm that the users’ sign-in names and proxy addresses are correct in Microsoft 365, and check the domain’s authentication and federation settings for any leftover Google-related configuration. The autodiscover CNAME pointing to autodiscover.outlook.com is the expected setup, but mobile clients may continue using previously discovered settings until their stored account profile is reset.
This is probably an autodiscover or account-detection issue rather than an MX record problem. Outlook Mobile can use cached account metadata, previous provider settings, or Microsoft’s autodiscover responses when deciding where to send the user. Verify that every relevant autodiscover record resolves correctly, then remove and re-add the account after clearing the app’s cached account data or reinstalling Outlook. Also check whether the domain or users still have an old Google Workspace identity associated with them.
