Should I Choose a Refurbished 4070 or a 5060 Ti for My Next Upgrade?

Hey everyone! I'm looking to upgrade from my 6700 XT since it's starting to show its age. Right now, I have my eye on a refurbished 4070 going for £360, but I'm also considering the 5060 Ti, which has 12 GB of RAM. What do you think? Will the 4070 with its roughly 10% better performance be worth it despite the 5060 Ti having more VRAM? I've heard that games might struggle with less than 16 GB of RAM at 1440p in the near future, but I'm not sure if that's a valid concern. Any advice would be appreciated!

Honestly, 12 GB should hold up fine for gaming at 1080p to 1440p for a while. Some folks here seem to think you need max settings at 4K, but that's just over the top for most games. If you're planning on playing at those resolutions, you should be alright with the 5060 Ti's memory.

I get that, but it's tough convincing everyone that 12 GB is enough. Some people will always want the latest and greatest.

If you're looking to upgrade, go for the 4070! The 6700 XT is still great, but unless it's having specific issues like overheating, it might not be worth the hassle to change. I used to have a 6700 XT, and while it performed decently at 1440p, I was mostly playing on medium to high settings, not maxed out.

If the 4070 is cheaper than the 5060 Ti, definitely go for the 4070! If not, then the 5060 Ti is a solid choice too.

You might want to hold off a bit for the 9060 XT coming soon. It could be better than both options you're considering!

That's what everyone says, but I'm sure they'll just be scalped heavily like usual.

I'd say 4070 all the way! It’s a no-brainer for that price and performance!
