Hey everyone! I'm in the process of building a Gaming PC and I'm considering my CPU options. I have a choice between the Ryzen 5 7600 for $185 and the Ryzen 7 7700X for $260. My graphics card is a 9070 GPU. I'm a bit concerned about the 6 cores in the 7600 versus the 8 cores in the 7700X. Is the price difference of $75 worth it for the 7700X in terms of future-proofing and gaming performance?

If you're looking to save some cash, the Ryzen 5 7500F is a decent option to consider. You can always upgrade later to something like the x3d if you want more performance down the line.

It really depends on the games you'll be playing. A 6-core CPU like the 7600 is still completely adequate for most gaming scenarios—most titles barely utilize more than 4 cores, actually.

I'd personally lean toward the Ryzen 7 7700X, especially since I've had experience with a Ryzen 5 3600X which bottlenecks in gaming now. If you can stretch the budget, it'll be worth it for the extra cores.

Honestly, spending 40% more for the Ryzen 7 7700X might not be worth it. The 7600 is a powerful CPU and shouldn't leave you wanting for the next 5 years. They're both built on the AM5 platform, so future-proofing won't be an issue either.

If you can find the Ryzen 7600X3D priced around $245, that might be your best bet. It should outperform both of the options you mentioned in gaming, and if it's available to you, definitely consider that over the 7700X.
