Should I choose the 4070 Super or the 5070 for my first build?

I'm building my first PC and I've got a choice between the 4070 Super and the 5070. The 4070 Super is $30 cheaper, has lower wattage, and I think it runs cooler. Both cards seem pretty similar in terms of performance. I'm mainly targeting 1440p and 1080p for competitive games, so I don't think I need the extra 16GB of VRAM. I've also noticed the 9060 XT at a much lower price, which is tempting. What do you all think I should go for?

Just get the 5070! It's a solid choice for your needs, especially for the FPS you're looking for.

If you're mainly into esports, consider the 9060 XT instead. It's a lot cheaper and will run 1080p titles like a breeze, plus it can manage decent 1440p performance with FSR. But for the best experience in AAA games at 1440p, the 5070 is worth it if you're okay with the price.

Exactly! The 5060 XT is a steal for its price if you're leaning more towards esports.

Totally agree! If you want something that will last for the next few years, definitely think about the 5070.

I'd go for the 5070. They're basically the same in performance, but the 5070 might offer a bit more longevity for AAA games. Plus, it generally handles 1440p better.
