Should I Upgrade to a 5070 Ti or 9070 XT for Better Gaming Performance?

I'm currently running a 7800X3D CPU with a 3070 Ti GPU, and I've been struggling with performance while gaming, especially at 3440x1440 resolution with a 144Hz refresh rate. I usually play titles like FFXVI and Horizon Forbidden West, and I'm only getting around 40 FPS. Even when I use frame generation mods, there's significant input lag. My CPU usage is around 50%, but my GPU is maxing out at 99%. I'm considering upgrading my GPU to either a 5070 Ti or a 9070 XT to achieve at least 144 FPS with high or ultra settings. What do you think I should choose, and are there any upcoming cards like the 9070 XTX that might be worth waiting for?

I've had a great experience with the 5070 Ti paired with my 7800X3D. Playing The Witcher 3 at 1440p ultra settings runs flawlessly!

I’ve had a similar experience with Cyberpunk on a 13600K; the 4x frame generation works wonders with just minor artifacts. I’m tempted to switch to a 7800X3D, but the cost of upgrading to AM5 is holding me back.

Not sure why you're having issues with Horizon Forbidden West. I played it fine with a 3080 and a 10850K on high settings without problems. I switched to a 9070 XT, but I'd avoid buying the 5070 Ti if it’s priced much higher than the 9070 XT—there's a significant price difference for me.

Don't stress about your GPU hitting 99% usage—that's normal during gaming. But, your GPU is lagging behind your CPU. If the 9070 XT is about $100 cheaper, I'd recommend that one. They're nearly on par for raster performance, and the 5070 Ti only offers a slight edge in ray tracing for the few games that actually support it.

Think about your budget. If you can splurge a bit, go for the 5070 Ti; it's a beast. Otherwise, the 9070 XT is a great option too! And if you're feeling a bit indulgent, consider waiting for the 5080, if that’s an option for you.

If the 5070 Ti isn't much more pricey, I’d definitely go for it. However, if it’s significantly more expensive, the 9070 XT is solid too and can save you some cash.
