I've been using my i9-9900KF for about 5 years, but lately, I'm running into some stuttering issues, both in gaming and even basic web browsing. These stutters seem to happen when there's a spike in CPU usage, so I'm pretty sure the CPU might be at fault. I'm stuck deciding between sticking with AM4 and getting a Ryzen 7 5800X (the 5800X3D and 5700X3D are sold out where I am) while keeping my DDR4 RAM, or switching to AM5 with a Ryzen 7 7800X3D, which would let me upgrade my GPU down the line but would mean I'd also need to switch to DDR5. I'm not thrilled about replacing my RAM. What makes the most sense for the long term? Just for context, I game at 1440p, paired with an RX 9060 XT 16Gb.

Honestly, this sounds more like it could be a software or storage issue, rather than a CPU problem needing an upgrade. You might have a background process that's causing these CPU spikes. Also, if you’re using an HDD, it could be hanging the system when it’s idling. Just something to think about before going for an upgrade.
That's a fair point, but I've been troubleshooting this for weeks. It’s frustrating enough that I’m leaning towards a full upgrade. My CPU is aging, so I’d eventually need to replace it anyway!
