Hey everyone! I'm trying to decide whether I should stick with my current setup or make the jump to AM5. I found a fantastic deal on Facebook Marketplace for an AM4 ITX motherboard and case for just $50. Right now, I'm using an older Intel CPU (9700F), so I already have DDR4 RAM that I can use. Should I sell my old PC and go for an AM5 setup, or would it be better to just grab a 5800X for about $150 on Amazon along with that Facebook deal?

My kids are using an AM4 with a 5600X3D, and honestly, it handles 1440p gaming just fine! If you’re content with decent performance, AM4 could still work for you.
Here's a breakdown: you could spend $200 now on AM4 (motherboard and CPU) and then possibly $400 later on AM5 (for CPU, motherboard, and RAM), totaling around $600. But if you just spend $400 outright for AM5 now, that's all you need! The savings seem clear here.
Upgrading makes sense if you plan to use your PC a lot and want faster performance with less latency. Selling your AM4 rig could be a solid move if you’re looking for an upgrade.
Definitely go for AM5 if you're thinking about future-proofing your system! You’ll have better performance down the line.
