Trouble RDPing from Laptop to Office PC

I'm having some trouble with a few users who can't connect to their office workstation via Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) from their laptops. They've tried using the IP address instead of the hostname, but that's not working either. Interestingly, other users with access rights can RDP into the workstation without any issues. The users facing the problem can connect to other workstations fine, so I'm puzzled about what's going on. Is there a way to clear any RDP cache or something else I might be missing?

Make sure to check the Windows Firewall settings on the target PC. Also, have a look at the Remote Desktop settings under Advanced computer settings; they might need adjusting.

Have they tried using a different network? Sometimes switching networks or using a different device can help identify where the issue lies. Also, if they are trying to connect from home or a remote site, make sure they are connected to the office VPN first.

Yeah, I’ll have them check the VPN connection first!

Have you checked the Event Viewer logs on the workstation? That might give you a clue about any errors they're encountering when trying to connect. It's a good place to start troubleshooting!
