I'm building my first PC and so far, I've got an 850W PSU and an Asrock B860 Intel motherboard. I'm planning to go with an i7 12700 CPU. Now, I'm looking for a GPU, and I've been looking into the 5060 series with 16GB, but the reviews are all over the place. I also checked out AMD GPUs and noticed they're often recommended for gaming rather than a balanced experience. I want to use this PC primarily for daily tasks and some gaming at 1080p-1440p, and my budget for the GPU is no more than $450. What would you recommend?

I grabbed the 5060 Ti and it's perfect for QHD gaming. But if you're looking to save a bit, the 9060 XT is also a solid choice. It really comes down to whether you prefer Team Red or Team Green in terms of GPUs!

If you can, consider returning that motherboard and CPU for AM5 support. It will give you more longevity down the road!

Honestly, I'd suggest going with an AMD setup. A Ryzen 7700 and a B650 or B850 motherboard can be future-proof and allow for CPU upgrades without needing a new motherboard. However, regarding your current motherboard, just so you know, the B860 won't work with the i7 12700k since they use different sockets. For your gaming needs, you'll want a powerful CPU, but if you're sticking to 1080p, you'll be fine with a less powerful one for now.

You can find the 5060 Ti for around $400 these days, and it's been great for me—using it in my editing setup. I recommend it if you're focusing on 1080p-1440p gaming!

Recently, hardware unboxed did a nice breakdown of GPU prices by country. You should definitely check that out to see how the prices compare for your area!
