I want to upgrade from my Intel Core i5-4670K so I can play newer games such as Clair Obscur without replacing my entire PC. I'm hoping to reuse my RTX 3060 Ti, storage, and 750W be quiet! Pure Power 13M power supply. My current system has an ASRock Z87 Pro3 motherboard and 16GB of Corsair Vengeance DDR3 memory. My budget is under $500, and I'm located in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. What CPU, motherboard, and memory combination would be a worthwhile upgrade?

Because your current platform uses DDR3, a modern CPU upgrade will require replacing the motherboard and RAM as well. There aren’t any worthwhile current processors that can use your existing memory. With a $500 budget, look for a current-generation CPU, compatible motherboard, and 32GB of DDR5 memory, or consider a discounted previous-generation bundle from a reputable local or online retailer. Your RTX 3060 Ti and 750W PSU should be reusable, assuming the PSU is in good condition and your case supports the new motherboard.
A budget-friendly alternative is an AM4 setup with a B550 motherboard and a Ryzen 5 5600X3D, if you can find one at a reasonable price. It can offer strong gaming performance for the money, but make sure the total cost is clearly lower than newer CPU, motherboard, and DDR5 options. The 5600X3D platform uses DDR4, so you would still need new memory.
